Senbonzakura

At rest Senbonzakura looks like an ordinary katana, set apart by an open, window-like crossguard framed in bronze and a hilt wrapped in lavender, and it is kept in a white sheath.

As one of Soul Society's most storied blades, Senbonzakura mirrors the refined, disciplined bearing of its master; in the anime it even takes on a proud, exacting spirit loyal to Byakuya alone. Its aesthetic of drifting cherry blossoms belies a weapon built to overwhelm through sheer numbers.

Byakuya frees its power with the command Scatter, at which the blade parts into a thousand slender shards too small and quick for the eye to follow; catching the light, they resemble a drift of cherry blossoms. By swinging the remaining hilt he steers the swarm, tearing distant enemies apart, cutting through defenses, and leveling structures, while the same shards can knit into a wall to fend off swordsmen, brawlers, or energy attacks. To keep from harming himself, the weapon maintains a Hurtless Area, a radius of roughly 85 centimeters that the blades will not cross unless he permits it. Once he had trained within the Soul King Palace, its mass and force grew so sharply that As Nodt mistook the enhanced Shikai for a Bankai; Byakuya could then raise great conical formations to smother wide assaults, fell foes such as NaNaNa Najahkoop and Candice Catnipp with a single pass, and wrap himself fully to ride out catastrophic shockwaves unscathed.
