Ikuro Hashizawa

In his human form Ikuro is an ordinary teenage boy of medium height and build, topped with a thick head of mid-toned hair. When the bioweapon takes over, his skin shifts toward a bluish tone and the flesh around his eyes splits open like a cracked shell to expose a dark hollow beneath, while his eyes blaze outward. His hair gives way to a writhing mane of long fleshy strands, and a glowing vertical oval, ringed in black, sits embedded high on his forehead.

Robbed of his memories, Ikuro recalls almost nothing of his earlier life. He comes across as a warm enough young man, though he will bend the law to stay alive, at one point making off with someone's bicycle. His closest tie is to Sumire, for whom he is ready to put his own life on the line. Transformed into Baoh, however, his temperament flips completely, leaving him ferocious and without conscience, willing to destroy anything that poses a threat.

Ikuro's power is the Baoh Armed Phenomenon, a defensive reaction that kicks in when his body suffers harm, sheathing him in living armor that grants superhuman strength and rapid healing he can even extend to others. In this state he commands a suite of grotesque attacks. The Meltedin Palm Phenomenon secretes corrosive enzymes from his palms that eat through metal and flesh alike. The Reskiniharden Saber Phenomenon grows a pair of blades of hardened skin tissue out of his arms, keen enough to cut through nearly anything, and they can be flung as projectiles by shouting Saber Off; Kars later modeled his own blade on this technique. The Shooting Bees-Stingers Phenomenon fires his hair as needles that burst into flame upon touching a target's body heat. His deadliest weapon, the Break-Dark-Thunder Phenomenon, generates upward of sixty thousand volts the way an electric eel does, enough to power a laser cannon.
