Asahi Naruhaya

Small in stature for the sport, Naruhaya carries a compact, slight frame that stands out among taller strikers. He wears his hair soft and fluffy in a light blond shade.

Rounded eyebrows of a darker tone sit above his eyes, framed by noticeably long lashes.

Warmth and a strong sense of duty sit under Naruhaya's goofy exterior. He shoulders responsibility for his siblings, and the Egoist Bible recounts how he once searched endlessly for a hair tie Gagamaru had misplaced.

Team Z knows him as its resident prankster, forever swiping snacks and cracking jokes, yet he holds a clear-eyed view of where he stands. He accepts that he lacks the raw gift of players like Baro, Nagi, or Bachira, counting himself and Isagi among the ordinary rather than the prodigies, and that honesty pushes him to fight hard in his matches.

When his pairing with Baro falls to Isagi and Nagi, the defeat leaves him drained yet oddly at peace. Reaching the Second Selection satisfies him even as he releases his dream of becoming the world's finest striker, and on his way out he urges Isagi to keep on winning.

Naruhaya is classed as a false nine, a striker who drifts out of the traditional center-forward slot to unsettle the opposing markers. When he pulls wide or drops deep, a center-back must either chase him and break the defensive shape or stay put and let him roam free, and Naruhaya thrives on forcing exactly that dilemma.

The engine behind it is his off-the-ball movement. Like Isagi he trades on runs made away from the ball, but he is sharper and more seasoned with the skill, reading the moment to slip into blind spots and split defensive lines. His timing is good enough to lose even Isagi.
