Shū Iura

Iura is topped with green hair, and his eyes sit so close in shade that they nearly match it. His everyday look leans casual, built around a sweatshirt and a set of purple headphones. He stands 172 centimeters tall.

Volume is Iura's default setting. He is loud, sociable, and forever the one kicking off whatever game or scheme the group falls into, a habit that gets him branded as thoroughly annoying by his own friends, who compare him to a bouncing green bundle of energy. He laments his apparent fate of never landing a girlfriend, yet he never actually pursues anyone in particular, so the complaints go nowhere. Others point out that a little quiet might make him far more appealing, though Iura counters that stripping away his hyperactivity would leave nothing of him at all.

At home a very different version emerges. Around his younger sister, Motoko, he turns reserved and even cold, but the frostiness masks real affection; he cares for her deeply and looks for any way to support her.

Iura topped the popularity polls in 2011 and again in 2014 before slipping to third place in 2016. Within the series he ran a recurring feature titled "Let's try asking Iura-kun!", in which he peppered the other characters with questions, and his official profile nods to that gag. In the fifth episode of Horimiya: The Missing Pieces, he remarks that he and Motoko both take after their mother's features.
