Personality

Off duty, Fugo drifts toward laziness and even a degree of cowardice. Duty transforms him. During the fall of Shiganshina he barks orders and takes charge of the inner gate's defense, and with an attack seconds away, his only recorded worry is whether the gate will finish closing before the Armored Titan arrives.

History

Fugo debuts in the series' opening chapter, drinking with Hannes and teasing a furious young Eren over the soldiers' carefree attitude toward the Titans, tossing in a wisecrack about the Survey Corps while Hannes explains why the Walls keep everyone safe.

When the Colossus Titan breaks the outer gate in 845, Fugo directs Shiganshina's evacuation, shepherding civilians while commanding the Garrison's cannon crews, who keep firing despite their weapons' terrible accuracy. As the inner gate begins to close, the Armored Titan charges. Fugo and his comrades attempt to repel it, but the effort proves futile; the Titan bursts through and breaches Wall Maria. Whether Fugo survives the disaster goes unrecorded.

His name translates to "I dispel" in Italian.
