Gameplay

Combat plays like a classic brawler in the mold of Final Fight or Battletoads, with Edward throwing punches while Alphonse frequently backs him up. The DS touch screen lets players draw transmutation circles by hand to trigger alchemy, from raising stone walls to trapping enemies or summoning a cannon, and most boss fights hinge on using the right alchemical trick at the right moment. A Character Mode unlocks replays of the story as Alphonse, Roy Mustang, Izumi Curtis, Alex Louis Armstrong, or Scar, alongside minigames and a voiced alarm clock feature.

Natsume developed Dual Sympathy, and it launched in Japan on July 21, 2005 through Bandai, followed by North America on December 12, 2006 through Destineer, Australia in April 2007, and Europe in September 2007 through Empire Interactive. Metacritic pegged it at 58 out of 100, a mixed score; Famitsu rated it 27 out of 40, while Western outlets ranged from 2 out of 5 at Hardcore Gamer up to 7 out of 10 at Nintendo Power and GameZone.
