Naoto Hayashimura

Long dark hair frames Hayashimura's otherwise unremarkable features, and he keeps both a goatee and a slim mustache. He dresses in the manner typical of the investigators around him.

The author has given his inner life little attention, so his temperament remains largely a blank. What does color him is his past ambition: before entering the CCG he trained to become a hair stylist, a detail that resurfaces when a fellow investigator seeks him out for a cut.

Hayashimura takes part in the Auction Mopping-up Operation as the Ooshiba Squad's second-in-command. When the unit runs into Nutcracker in the control room, her chimera kagune catches them off guard and nearly wipes them out, but he survives only because she had thrown him through a window earlier and he landed in a bush. Rejoining the Quinx Squad on their way to the same room, he fights Nutcracker again alongside Saiko Yonebayashi and Ginshi Shirazu, serving as bait so Shirazu can drive her into one of her own traps. Watching Saiko's kagune pin the ghoul down leaves him rattled, unsure who the real monster is. His conduct there earns him a jump from Rank 1 to First Class. Later, during the Rose Extermination, a reformed Shirazu asks him for a haircut, and Saiko explains that Hayashimura had once meant to become a hairdresser.

He fights with real competence, able to press and briefly hold his ground against an S-rated opponent like Nutcracker, a ghoul who commands two different kagune types. His weapon, the bikaku quinque Thinning, resembles a straight sword with a serrated edge and cuts sharply enough to open a deep gash in a pair of koukaku kagune.
