Grip

Grip is a broad-built foreigner whose wavy platinum hair falls past his chin, parted down the middle. Pale blue eyes and a strand of white beads worn at the neck complete the look, and he tends to dress in dark or fully black attire.

Reserved and even-tempered, Grip keeps a calm presence and behaves with a certain honor, though he will happily threaten someone when it suits him. He takes obvious pride in his power. A mild eccentricity marks his speech: he caps every sentence with the archaic ending -nu, an old negative form he believes lends him the air of a samurai. Official translations render the tic as tacking phrases like would I not onto his lines. Karma singles him out for pranking twice, once tormenting him after their fight at the hotel and again dosing his acorn noodles with something fiery at the autumn festival.

Grip's defining weapon is his own body. His strength is described as monstrous, enough by Karma's reckoning to crush a person's skull, which lets him take jobs in guarded places where weapons would never pass a pat-down. He seldom needs to trade blows by hand, but when a fight is forced on him he proves capable and shows no reluctance to fight dirty to come out on top.
