Kirara Hazama

Hazama is a slim, fair-skinned girl whose wavy black hair reaches her shoulders and parts down the middle. Her pink eyes are lined with thick lower lashes, lending her a gloomy, brooding air, which she blames on a mother prone to screaming fits that she feels kept her from looking as sweet as her name suggests. Seven years after graduation her hair has grown out to just above her waist, and her face softens into a gentle, relaxed expression, as when she smiles kindly at a young girl's question.

Reserved and drawn to the page, Hazama would rather read in the shade than swim during summer gym, and she dreams of becoming a librarian. Her tastes run dark: she favors horror and grim stories, dabbles in the occult, and once tried to place a curse on Korosensei. She even spoiled the ending of The Count of Monte Cristo for Itona Horibe while recommending it. Beyond reading, she takes real delight in frightening and disturbing others, claiming she has spooked people on roadsides since childhood, and her script for the class play was so bleak it robbed the school of its appetite. Her home life is hinted to be rough, with a hysterical mother who erupts whenever displeased.

Hazama shares third place in marksmanship among the girls with Rio Nakamura, both scoring 79 out of 200 on a June test. Her love of books translates into strong writing, which is why she was handed the task of scripting Class 3-E's stage play. She also possesses a genuine talent for intimidation, having terrified people since she was small and even earning a title as a national representative of test-of-courage frights. During the civil war she was picked off after Yuma Isogai caught her creeping into an ambush position, notably crawling toward her targets like a spider. In Karasuma's assassination-aptitude data she rates highest in politics and negotiation and in scouting, but lowest in actually executing plans.
