Karma's Time

Karma Akabane transfers back into Class 3-E after serving a suspension and immediately draws blood, hiding shards of a knife blade against his palm and injuring Korosensei with a handshake. During a quiz he swipes the teacher's prized gelato to bait him, firing an unloaded gun to throw him off guard. Learning from Nagisa that Korosensei reveres the octopus, Karma leaves a dead one on the desk, only for Korosensei to cook it into takoyaki and turn the insult back on him.

Every scheme Karma attempts throughout the day is calmly predicted and defused by his target. Out of options, the boy leaps from a cliff with a gun in hand, gambling that Korosensei must either risk his own life to save a student or abandon his pride as a teacher. Korosensei spins his tentacles into a vast web to catch the fall, and Karma, saved, finally accepts him as a genuine teacher.

The third episode marks Karma's debut and adapts chapters 4 through 6. Several small manga differences exist: Yada compliments Karasuma in the anime where Hayami does in the manga, Korosensei catches the thrown knife rather than letting it hit a tree, and his drawn-out reaction to Karma's octopus gift is anime-exclusive. It first aired in Japan on January 30, 2015, with the broadcast dub on March 4, 2015.
