Summary

Karma realizes Nagisa had hidden himself beside Karasuma, the only figure in a Self Defense uniform, to ambush four opponents at once. With Maehara knifed out, the contest becomes a duel. Rather than simply shoot Karma down after his open challenge, Nagisa understands he must beat his rival on his own terms to unite the class and make Karma truly grasp his wish to save their teacher, so he sets aside his gun and takes up two knives.

As the two square off, they recall a friendship that quietly frayed. Nagisa had admired Karma's talents and enjoyed his company, until glimpses of Karma's violence and a hidden edge he could not read pulled them apart. Now both stand on the same stage of assassination, each vowing with a fierce grin to bring the other down.

Key Events

Karma dominates the melee physically, absorbing blows and battering Nagisa down as his way of forcing unity, while Nagisa needs only one clean strike. A right hook and an axe kick leave Nagisa stunned, but he rallies, lands the clap stun move at point blank range, then feints the killing knife thrust and instead locks Karma in another chokehold. Reaching for his own blade, Karma sees the sincerity in his friend's effort, drops it, and surrenders, handing the blue save team victory.

Karasuma names the winner, and the reconciled pair drop their formalities. He grants the class until the end of January to find a way to save Korosensei, with the assassination still to follow regardless. In a post credits scene, Ritsu breaches a global research database and Fuwa locates work aboard the International Space Station, prompting Korosensei to send Karasuma and Irina out of the room before floating an audacious idea: hijacking a Japanese prototype shuttle to reach the station.

Notes

Both Irina and Karasuma read the entire duel as another lesson engineered by Korosensei to bind the class back together. The anime relocates a flashback of Karma and Nagisa reading a Sonic Ninja magazine from the classroom to a bookstore.
