Chapter 28: Movie Time!

Flipping through a film magazine with reddened cheeks, Korosensei announces plans to zip over to Hawaii and catch Sonic Ninja, an American superhero picture only just released overseas. His Mach 20 legs make the trip trivial, and the students, crowding the magazine cover, beg for a review the next day. Reading the very same article, Nagisa Shiota and Karma Akabane freeze in disbelief. After class the two ask to tag along, Nagisa having awaited the sequel and Karma curious about the director tackling American comic material.

A voice from Nagisa's pocket interrupts: Ritsu has copied her program into everyone's phones as "Mobile Ritsu" and wants to record the takeoff as reference for a future kill. Korosensei tucks both boys into his robe, accelerates gently to spare their bodies, and bolts out of the building. Mid-flight he shows off a head that hardens under pressure to shrug off the wind, then teaches them about the dilatancy effect using potato starch and water, noting the same principle behind bulletproof vests. Ritsu urges Karma to strike while they are close, but he declines, since a slip would drop them into the sea at supersonic speed.

Set down at a Hawaiian entertainment complex, the boys enter a theater chilled by aggressive air conditioning and bundle up in blankets, while a delighted Ritsu experiences a cinema for the first time. Worried about the lack of subtitles, Nagisa is reassured that Irina's English lessons have prepared them, and Korosensei hands over earbud-shaped tentacles to translate unfamiliar words, along with soda and popcorn. The feature opens on a lone hero shielding a woman in a ruined city, a solitary savior Nagisa suspects his teacher might relate to. Instead, Korosensei fixates on the heroine's figure until the masked monster is unmasked as her own brother, at which point his blushing stops.

Back at Kunugigaoka that night, Nagisa frets over the next installment while Karma dismisses the sibling twist as tired, and Ritsu offers to forecast the finale by crunching a thousand Hollywood films. Korosensei, meanwhile, sobs over the separated brother and sister the whole way home, then assigns an English write-up of the movie as cheap payment for the free trip. Nagisa reflects that the more the class learns about their teacher, the more the meaning of his existence seems to blur.

His tears finally spent, Korosensei heads off to tutor Kotaro Mimura in math, streaking past a boy perched on a tree branch. A figure draped in a white cloak, Shiro, asks whether the boy's eyes could track the creature, then tells him he should be capable of killing it. When the boy wonders aloud if he glimpsed his own brother, Shiro confirms it and promises to serve as his teacher the following day, vowing to make the target pay for what was done to the moon. The pair introduced here, Itona Horibe and Shiro, set up the next storyline. The chapter runs nineteen pages, sits in the fourth collected volume, and first appeared in the ninth 2013 issue.
