Chapter 47

The forty-seventh installment traces how Shiro turns Ryoma Terasaka into the tool for his second strike at Korosensei. Terasaka is picked precisely because he stands apart from his classmates, which keeps the target from sensing anything unusual, and because Shiro has spent the interval reworking Itona Horibe into a sharper weapon. A slow buildup of small details, from a doctored pesticide to Korosensei's oddly runny nose, quietly sets the trap. By the final pages the confrontation Terasaka believes he controls detonates into something he never agreed to, leaving both him and his teacher stunned at the edge of a flooding pool.

Itona confronts Terasaka with a flat verdict, ranking him below the red-haired Karma Akabane because he lacks vision, likening him to cattle grazing on whatever sits in front of them while a wolf hunts with purpose. Shiro admits Itona is not yet fully conditioned and presses the pair to cooperate. During lunch Korosensei is shown dripping from an inflamed nose, which he blames on a summer chill, unaware it is the effect of the cedar-pollen agent meant to numb a tentacled body. Terasaka openly dares Korosensei to meet him at the pool, boasting of his weakness around water, and orders the reluctant class to assist, an entitlement Hiroto Maehara and others resent since he has never joined their attempts before.

At the poolside Terasaka drives everyone into the water and kicks a doubting Kotaro Takebayashi in to prove his resolve. The pistol he brandishes is a fake, in truth a signaling device meant to summon Itona to shove Korosensei under. When Terasaka finally squeezes the trigger, expecting Itona, a charge rigged to the pool gate blows instead. Shiro's genuine aim surfaces on his tablet: rupture the barrier holding back the water so the students are swept toward the rocks below, gambling that Korosensei will drop everything to save them or leave seven or eight of them dead.

Titled Bijon no Jikan in Japanese, the chapter fills nineteen pages and first ran in the twenty-ninth 2013 issue of the magazine on June 17, 2013. It sits inside the sixth collected volume, Swimming Time, following Time for Terasaka and leading into Time to Do the Deed. Its events are adapted in the anime as part of Episode 14, Vision Time.
