Korotan D Chapter 3

The commotion that drew Kayano over turns out to be a clash between the line producer and the director, both fed up with the repeated hold-ups on the shoot. The producer finally loses his temper and walks off the job, and the crew reacts with dread, likening the departure to being stripped of their arms and legs. Karma steps forward and offers the class as fill-in staff, drawing on the varied skills they picked up back in middle school. The director takes him up on it, and each student slots into a role that fits. Meanwhile Chiba, Hayami, and Hara take a moment to appreciate the temple's architecture.

Jerome March is filming a running sequence, but his pace outstrips the fixed cameras trying to capture it. When the director asks for a cameraman rigged to a wire, Okajima volunteers and manages to stay level with Jerome, delivering exactly the footage the director wanted. That first success opens the door, and the class steadily wins the confidence of everyone working on the production.

The line producer's resignation throws the shoot into crisis, prompting Karma to volunteer the class as replacement crew. Okajima's wire-rigged camera work keeps pace with Jerome's running scene and impresses the director, and that early win earns the former 3-E students the trust of the wider film team.

This is the third chapter of the Korotan D light novel. It folds the class into the Gold City production as working crew, using their old classroom-honed abilities to salvage the troubled shoot.
