Clash of the Titans arc

This arc occupies fifth position in the manga, arriving after The Female Titan arc and leading into the Royal Government arc. Its sixteen chapters, 35 through 50, were serialized over sixteen months from July 9, 2012 to October 9, 2013 and collected in volumes 9 through 12. The name is a fan convention rather than an official title, and the anime's version of the arc is delineated separately.

Titans are suddenly reported inside the Wall, and the possibility that Wall Rose has been breached throws the military into an emergency response. The members of the 104th are swept into a bloody fight against the mysterious intruders while, unknown to them, a threat has been traveling within their own ranks the entire time. That hidden danger builds toward a decisive battle that Eren Yeager and his allies cannot avoid.

The run opens with The Beast Titan and closes with Scream, passing through chapters including I'm Home, Southwestward, Utgard Castle, Soldier, Ymir, Historia, Warrior, The Armored Titan, Strike, Throw, Submit, The Hunters, Opening, Children, Someone, and Charge.

Publication of the arc ended in October 2013, and the manga proceeds into the Royal Government arc. The anime later adapted this stretch of the story as its own seventh arc, spanning episodes 26 through 37.
