Summary
To keep Kuklo and Cardina Baumeister beyond the Military Police's reach after their flight from Shiganshina District, Jorge Pikale escorts the pair to the region called the Industrial City. Along the way Kuklo hears of a fabled piece of equipment, an early vertical maneuvering device, said to hold the key to beating the Titans. The discovery hardens his resolve: he will join the Survey Corps and master the device himself. At the same time, Xavi Inocencio is accepted into the Military Police, receives his first mission, and is handed a lead pointing to where his sister Sharle may currently be hiding.
