Colt Grice

Standing 180 centimeters, Colt towers over most of the other Warrior candidates. Light brown hair sits cropped short above an elongated face, and his eyes carry a hazel tint over a lean, athletic build.

On duty he dresses like any Marleyan infantryman: light jacket and trousers, hip packs, suspenders, combat boots, and a striped hard hat. Small details mark him as Eldian rather than Marleyan. A star badge replaces the clip at his collar, the stripe circling his helmet is brightly colored instead of black, and, as Marleyan law demands of his whole family line, an armband wraps his arm.

Courage and devotion drive Colt in equal measure. He sprints through enemy fire to carry the wounded Falco back to cover, hands over his own helmet during the escape, and watches over his brother's treatment afterward. That protectiveness extends into his soldiering, where he thinks several moves ahead, reading likely enemy actions and proposing plans meant to spend Titan power rather than human lives, even while Marleyan officers sneer at his Eldian blood.

Off the battlefield his judgment slips. Despite handling alcohol poorly, he happily shares Pieck Finger's drink and ends up visibly drunk on the train home.

Colt's path is set in 832, when his uncle Grice is exposed as an Eldian Restorationist and the family falls under suspicion. To prove their loyalty, Colt pledges himself to the Marleyan Warrior program, and he eventually earns selection as the Beast Titan's next inheritor.

He serves on the front line against the Mid-East Allied Forces, where he rescues Falco from a shelling and later watches Gabi Braun destroy the enemy's armored train. Back in Liberio he attends the Warriors' strategy meetings on the coming Paradis operation, plays catch with Zeke Yeager to prepare for the power he is meant to receive, and sits in the audience for Willy Tybur's festival. The night turns to catastrophe when Eren Yeager's Attack Titan smashes through the stage. Colt drags Gabi and Udo through the panicking crowd, loses Udo to the stampede, and carries the boy's body to an overwhelmed hospital, only to be told he is already gone. He cannot stop Gabi from running back toward the fighting, and later watches helplessly as she and Falco stow away aboard the departing enemy airship.

When Marley strikes back at Paradis, Colt parachutes into Shiganshina with Theo Magath's force. Gabi tells him that Falco has swallowed wine laced with Zeke's spinal fluid, leaving him one scream away from becoming a mindless Titan. Colt races through the battle to find his brother, and a sympathetic Paradis officer quietly releases the boy to him. Reaching Zeke moments before the fatal scream, Colt begs him to wait until Falco is out of range, declaring that his brother's safety outweighs every other life on the island. Zeke calls the situation a shame and screams anyway. Rather than flee, Colt wraps his arms around Falco and promises to stay with him. The blast of the transformation dismembers Colt and burns him to death.
