Gabi Braun

Small even for her age, Gabi packs an athletic build into a petite 138-centimeter frame. Wide brown eyes sit beneath defined brows on a compact face, joined by a slightly upturned nose and a famously radiant smile. Her black hair reaches medium length, half of it gathered atop her head while long strands hang at either side of her face.

On duty she wears Marley's soldier uniform, its collar badge and hat stripe carrying the Eldian star that Marleyan issue lacks, along with knee-high combat boots and a hard hat. Beneath it she owns only a tattered light dress over roughly made shorts. Casual days pair a white shirt and black dress with a mantle reaching her thighs, and the armband Marleyan law imposes on Eldians never leaves her arm by choice.

Passion drives everything Gabi does. Headstrong, blunt, and fearless, she volunteers her own life without hesitation when the alternative is spending 800 fellow Eldian soldiers against enemy guns, and she stays oddly carefree under fire. The same intensity makes her overbearing: she appoints herself leader of the Warrior candidates and threatens punishments when they step out of line. Clever enough to improvise a bomb in a trench and stage a fake surrender to deliver it, she is nonetheless completely blind to Falco's transparent feelings for her.

Marley's falsified history shapes her worldview. She grows up condemning the Eldians of Paradis as devils, kills in that cause without remorse, and clings to her armband as proof that she stands among the "true" Eldians, flying into a frenzy when Falco tears it off. That certainty erodes slowly on Paradis. Kindness from Kaya and the Blouse family confuses her; kneeling before Sasha's grieving father, she freezes in honest terror; and by the time Marley counterattacks she breaks down in tears, admitting she had branded strangers as devils, the same realization her cousin Reiner reached years earlier. From then on she fights not for Marley but to stop Eren and save whoever remains.

Gabi serves at Fort Slava during Marley's war against the Mid-East alliance, one of four Warrior candidates competing to inherit Reiner's Armored Titan. Her homemade bomb, smuggled forward in a staged surrender and disguised as an ankle shackle, derails the enemy's armored train and opens the fortress to Marley's Titans. Soldiers toast her by name on the ride home, and at a family dinner in Liberio, Reiner confirms she leads the running for his Titan.

At the festival that follows, Willy Tybur exposes the truth about Karl Fritz and declares war on Paradis, and Eren Yeager's Attack Titan erupts through the stage. The raid kills her friends Zofia and Udo. Grief-stricken, Gabi shoots down a soldier tethered to the Survey Corps airship and rides the dead man's cable upward with Falco clinging on. Inside, her bullet kills Sasha Blouse before the two children are captured, and the raid's ringleader proves to be Warchief Zeke Yeager, alive and a traitor.

Imprisoned on Paradis, she fakes a seizure, clubs her guard with a concealed brick, and escapes with Falco. A farm girl named Kaya shelters the fugitives with the Blouse family, where Gabi's indoctrination keeps colliding with reality: she twice tries to kill Kaya, is exposed at Niccolo's restaurant as Sasha's killer, and waits frozen for an execution that never comes when Sasha's father sets the knife aside. Taken to Shiganshina, she is swept into Pieck's ruse against Eren and escapes on the Cart Titan when Marley counterattacks.

Reunited with Magath's forces, she renounces her hatred of the island outright. When Zeke's scream turns Falco into a Pure Titan and the blast kills Colt, Gabi takes the anti-Titan rifle from his body and fires the round that removes Eren's head, only for contact with Zeke to ignite the Rumbling. Reiner shields her through the collapse of the Walls; she then saves Kaya from a Titan with a single shot and joins Armin in rescuing Falco at Ragako before he can be fed to Connie's mother.

Fighting beside the allied Warriors and Survey Corps veterans, she shoots Floch out of the air at the harbor before his Thunder Spear can sink the escape boat. From Odiha she reaches Fort Salta aboard Falco's flying Titan, where her account of the glowing centipede she glimpsed at Eren's decapitation shapes the final plan and her marksmanship frees Armin from the Okapi Titan. After Eren's death undoes the power of the Titans, she finds her parents and Falco again; three years later the pair care for the crippled Levi, help replant the lands the Rumbling scoured, and eventually marry.
