Halil is the careful half of his friendship with Ramzi. Having watched punishment take his friend's right hand, he pleads with him to quit thieving. Money still clouds his judgment at the worst possible moment, though: with Titans bearing down on the village, he doubles back to gather the coins Ramzi drops rather than keep running.
History
Ramzi shows Halil the hiding spot for the money he has been stealing, and Halil urges him to stop before it costs more than a severed hand. Ramzi refuses; the stash is meant to buy their family's way out of the village. Their argument breaks off when they notice crowds fleeing ahead of an army of Wall Titans marching across Marley.
The boys hurry home and join the villagers' flight, but Ramzi fumbles his pouch in the chaos and Halil turns back for it over his friend's protests. Debris rains down from the surrounding buildings and strikes them both; a fragment shears away the right side of Halil's head, killing him almost instantly. He shares a July 20th birthday with Gustav.
