Jaw Titan

At roughly five meters, the Jaw Titan stands far below the rest of the Nine, a compact frame built for pouncing rather than towering. How its hardening manifests differs from holder to holder. Ymir's incarnation shows little beyond reinforced teeth, while the versions belonging to Marcel, Porco, and Falco sport armored face masks, plating along the jaw, and hardened fingers sturdy enough to shrug off gunfire.

Under Falco Grice the silhouette changes again. Beast Titan spinal fluid in his system lets his Jaw Titan grow a tail and a pair of wings, giving the form a distinctly birdlike cast no earlier inheritor displayed.

Marleyan analysts class the Jaw as an assault unit, and speed defines that role. Nothing among the Nine moves faster, quick enough to blindside larger Titans, and the small body that costs it raw power becomes an asset in cramped or wooded ground such as the giant forests.

Its namesake weapons make up for the light build. Bite and claw together concentrate enough force to wreck artillery turrets, tear railway lines out of the earth, and breach defenses that stop everything else. The Jaw chews through the hardened armor Eren Yeager generates and cracks open the crystal casing of the War Hammer Titan, a feat beyond even the Attack Titan.

Flight belongs to Falco alone. Because spinal fluid harvested from Zeke Yeager carried the Beast Titan's influence into him before his inheritance, Falco's Titan can take to the air with several passengers clinging to its body, echoing a winged Beast incarnation from generations past.

Like its eight siblings, the Jaw Titan comes into being with the death of Ymir Fritz, then spends seventeen centuries passing among the feuding Eldian houses bound to the Founding Titan. Once the 145th King, Karl Fritz, withdraws to Paradis Island, Marley claims the power amid the Great Titan War. Come the year 843 or so, it is entrusted to the warrior Marcel Galliard, who uses it in wartime to demolish an enemy's artillery.

The Paradis Island Operation of 845 ends Marcel's tenure almost at once. A wild Titan snatches him after he shoves Reiner Braun clear, and the devourer, restored to human shape by the inheritance, proves to be Ymir, an Eldian girl who has wandered as a mindless Titan for some sixty years. She slips into life inside the Walls as a thief, then enlists in the 104th Training Corps to get close to the girl calling herself Krista Lenz. Cornered at Utgard Castle during the Wall Rose crisis, she transforms to protect her comrades and exposes her secret; Reiner and Bertolt recognize the Titan that ate their friend and later abduct her alongside Eren. After watching Eren command Titans with the Founding power, Ymir chooses to leave with the warriors rather than return to the Walls.

Ymir is delivered to Marley, and by 854 Marcel's brother Porco holds the Jaw. He smashes the Mid-East Allied defenses at Fort Slava alongside the Cart and Armored Titans, then fights through the Raid on Liberio, where Levi severs his Titan's jaw muscles mid-lunge and Eren later forces the War Hammer's crystal between its teeth, using its own bite to kill the inheritor sealed inside. In the battle for Shiganshina, Porco trades blows with the Attack Titan repeatedly, frees the captive Pieck by biting off her shackled hand, and takes a crippling strike defending against Eren. His healing spent, he climbs from his nape and lets Falco Grice's mindless Titan devour him so the boy can live again as a human.

Falco's first transformation comes at the harbor, where he routs the Yeagerists but loses control and mauls his own allies until Theo Magath cuts him free of the nape. He later draws on an old Beast inheritor's memories to sprout wings, flying Annie and Gabi to the Founding Titan and ferrying the allied warriors and Survey Corps soldiers through the final battle near Fort Salta, pulling them clear before Armin's explosive transformation. With Eren's death the power of the Titans ends, and the Jaw Titan disappears along with every other Titan.
