Worry seems etched permanently onto Weilman's face, with hollowed eyes above a heavy brown mustache that hides his upper lip. He slicks his brown hair straight back and lets it run down into a dense beard ringing his features. A hulking frame, listed at 195 centimeters and 110 kilograms, makes his constant nervousness all the more striking.

Stress unravels him. Under pressure his paranoia swallows his judgment, producing rash orders issued before the facts are in, a flaw his superiors know well; Dot Pixis teases that for all his bulk, Weilman startles like a fawn. Isayama has added that a wife and children wait for him at home.

After Eren Yeager climbs out of his own Titan's corpse in Trost, Weilman rings him, Mikasa, and Armin with troops and demands an account of the transformation, promising execution on the spot if the answer disappoints. Rico Brzenska shares his suspicion of the boy while Ian Dietrich warns that losing Mikasa would gut humanity's fighting strength, but nothing calms the captain, and he orders a wall-mounted cannon fired on the trio, forcing Eren into a partial transformation to shield his friends. The display only deepens his terror. Even Armin's impassioned case that Eren's power could be turned against the Titans fails to move him, and he is readying a second shot when Dot Pixis appears and orders the gun stood down. Weilman is later seen among the officers interrogating would-be deserters, once again threatening execution.

When reports claim Wall Rose has been breached, he takes charge of the eastern line of defense, baiting Titans into massed cannon fire so that Rico can finish them with cuts to the nape.
