An undercut frames Levi's deceptively young face, black hair cropped close beneath straight bangs, while narrow gray eyes ringed by dark circles rarely betray what he is thinking. He stands well below average height, yet years of vertical maneuvering work have packed his small frame with muscle, and his default expression sits somewhere between a frown and a blank stare.

His trademark look pairs the Survey Corps uniform with a white ascot over a pale gray shirt, swapped for the hooded green cloak on expeditions and, on rare formal occasions, a black suit. During the uprising against the monarchy he drops the ascot and simply straps his maneuvering harness over civilian clothes. The war leaves its marks: an explosion triggered by Zeke Yeager scars his face, crosses his right eye, and costs him the first two fingers of his right hand.

Two obsessions define Levi to those who serve with him: cleanliness and the value of human life. Raised in squalor, he keeps himself, his gear, and his surroundings spotless, wiping blood from his blades in the middle of combat, yet he never lets filth stop him when a fight demands otherwise. His manner is another matter entirely. Cold, blunt, and fond of crude, dark humor, he insults merchants and Military Police to their faces, and his obedience belongs only to the handful of people he respects, chief among them Commander Erwin Smith.

Beneath the hostility sits a fierce moral core. He grieves openly for fallen subordinates, risks his life to pull Eren from the Female Titan's jaws, and is deeply shaken by the theory that every Titan he ever slew may once have been human. Toward enemies of humanity that empathy vanishes: he taunts the captured Female Titan with detailed promises of mutilation, tortures Djel Sannes alongside Hange, and methodically carves up Zeke Yeager after their second battle. When pushed, he will lift a future queen off her feet by the collar to force a decision, reasoning that someone has to play the lunatic so that some portion of humanity survives. For all his skill, he carries no arrogance about it, leaves choices to his subordinates whenever possible, and insists that no one can know the right decision until after it is made.

No living soldier matches Levi with vertical maneuvering equipment; his worth is measured against an entire brigade, and even losing two fingers barely slows him. His signature reverse grip, the right blade held backhand with its edge facing outward, lets him spin through rotating strikes that shred targets while conserving stamina, a technique rooted in the knife lessons of his uncle Kenny Ackerman, the killer who raised him in the Underground after his mother Kuchel died. As an Ackerman he also carries the clan's awakened power, an instinctive combat clarity he describes as simply knowing what needs to be done; it shields his memories from royal manipulation and fades only after Eren's death.

His feats span the entire war. He single-handedly incapacitates the Female Titan when whole squads could not touch her, and at Shiganshina he blinds and topples Zeke's Beast Titan to honor a vow made to the dying Erwin. When Zeke later turns Levi's own wine-drugged soldiers into Titans, Levi slaughters every one of them, runs Zeke down, and blows him out of his nape with Thunder Spears, weapons he normally does not even bother to carry.

Sharp battlefield judgment underpins the physical talent, whether he is reading the Female Titan's hardening in time to save Mikasa or improvising with chairs, corpses, and a stolen shotgun against Kenny's Anti-Personnel Squad in a cramped bar. His record stands at no fewer than eighty nine solo Titan kills, and it closes with Zeke himself, decapitated without a moment's hesitation at the final battle. Afterward, permanently wheelchair-bound and looked after by Gabi and Falco, Levi settles in Marley and joins the effort to replant what the Rumbling destroyed.
