Pieck Finger

Disheveled black hair falling past her shoulders, heavy-lidded dark brown eyes, and a Greek nose give Pieck a permanently drowsy look. Small in stature, she typically dresses in a white blouse under a long trench coat, an ankle-length skirt, and black lace-up boots, with the Eldian armband fixed to her left arm as Marley requires. After spending two straight months as the Cart Titan during the Mid-East war she leans on a crutch, and when nobody is watching she drops to all fours, which she insists feels more natural. As a girl she kept her hair tied back, and on Paradis she disguises herself in a stolen Survey Corps uniform.

Her Titan stands four meters at the shoulder and moves on all four limbs. The long, flat torso doubles as a cargo bed, while the elongated face, full lips, broad nose, and tiny forehead accept custom armor, jaw pieces, and weapon mounts that Marley straps on for battle.

Beneath the sleepy exterior operates one of the sharpest minds in the Warrior Unit. Pieck reads situations in moments, piecing together the Tybur family's role in Zeke's plans almost before he explains it, and her deductive gift is the very reason Marley entrusted her with the Cart Titan. She pairs that intellect with an easygoing eccentricity, handing Colt a drink on the troop train and curling up on sofas like a cat.

Warmth defines her relationships: she looks after her fellow Warriors and the candidates, defends Reiner from Galliard's mockery, and shields Gabi and Falco from the battlefield whenever she can. Her loyalty, though, belongs to people rather than to Marley. She fights well for the country while privately praying for the Eldians' liberation, fears her people will become disposable as technology overtakes Titan warfare, and became a Warrior in the first place to fund her ailing father's medical care. Toward the islanders of Paradis she carries little real hatred, and she openly criticizes her superiors' strategic blunders.

Raised in the Liberio internment zone, Pieck loses her mother young and enlists in the Warrior program the moment she is eligible, buying her sick father the treatment he cannot afford. She inherits the Cart Titan around 843 and stays behind as a homeland deterrent while four other Warriors depart for Paradis Island in 845. Five years on, she ferries supplies for Zeke's expedition that turns Ragako's villagers into Titans, and at Shiganshina she scouts the Survey Corps' approach, hauls ammunition and a barrel concealing Bertolt, then snatches the beaten Zeke away from Levi's blades and pulls Reiner to safety.

In the Mid-East war her armored, machine-gun-fitted Titan storms Fort Slava's bunkers beside Galliard's Jaw Titan. Back home, her suspicion of an oddly familiar escort proves prophetic when the disguised Yelena drops her and Galliard into a confinement pit during the Liberio festival; the Panzer Unit she quietly alerted hauls them out. In the ensuing raid she guns down Survey Corps soldiers until Thunder Spears wreck her Titan and kill her crew, and her realization that the traitor came from the first Paradis survey ship exposes Zeke's conspiracy to Magath.

Sent ahead to Paradis, Pieck infiltrates the Yeagerists, puts a gun to Eren's head in Gabi's cell, and tells him she shares his wish to free the Eldians while trusting only those who have bled beside her. Asked to point out her fellow infiltrators, she points at Eren himself as Galliard's ambush erupts. She then scales Wall Maria carrying anti-Titan artillery so Magath can shell Eren and Zeke, faking her own death mid-battle to reposition, until Armin and Mikasa destroy the cannon and the Rumbling begins beneath her.

Allying with Magath, Hange, and Levi to stop Eren, she extracts Jean, Onyankopon, and Yelena from the Yeagerists, exposes Yelena's Marleyan birth, and fights through the harbor battle where she subdues a berserk Falco and watches Magath die destroying the cruiser. In the final battle her Titan's mouth carries the explosives that she plants on Eren's nape, and survives impalement by the resurrected War Hammer Titan through the Cart's signature trick: near-limitless consecutive transformations. Saved in turn by Jean and the Galliard brothers, she reunites briefly with her father at Fort Salta before the source's smoke turns him into a Titan, then helps Reiner and Annie pin the creature down until Eren dies and every Eldian regains human form. Three years later she sails to Paradis among the peace ambassadors.
