Ramzi

A fez sits permanently atop Ramzi's close-cropped dark hair. Big dark eyes above a prominent Roman nose dominate the boy's face, and he layers a vest atop a pale button-up shirt, wearing dark trousers below. In his final days he is missing his right hand, severed as punishment for repeated thefts.

Providing for his family justifies, in Ramzi's eyes, whatever stealing it takes. Losing a hand and absorbing constant beatings never persuades him to stop; he keeps working toward a house sturdy enough to replace the crumbling tent where refugees die every winter. Courage and care for others run underneath the thievery.

At a Marleyan harbor, Ramzi is seized trying to lift Sasha Blouse's purse. Bystanders demand brutal punishment, but the girl and her friends pretend to know him, and he walks away with the money and his thanks. Soon after, merchants corner him in an alley and beat him for his repeated thefts until a stranger, Eren Yeager, thrashes them into submission. Walking Ramzi back to his village, the man suddenly breaks down crying and apologizes to him over and over. Puzzled but grateful, Ramzi has his grandfather invite Eren's whole party into their tent, and the refugees and strangers celebrate together deep into the night. Sometime later, thieving costs him his right hand.

When Ramzi shows Halil his hidden stash of stolen money, his friend begs him to stop, but Ramzi refuses until he can buy his family a real home. Fleeing crowds interrupt them, and Ramzi looks up to find countless Wall Titans advancing over the horizon. He and Halil race back to the village and flee with the others ahead of the Rumbling until Ramzi drops his money and Halil doubles back for it. Falling debris kills Halil and cripples Ramzi, who glimpses an apparition of Ymir Fritz in the distance just before a Titan's foot comes down on them both.
