Appearance

Roeg's years show plainly: he is deep into middle age, his cropped hair thinning back from the forehead, with glasses resting on his nose. Off duty he favors a dress shirt with dark trousers, and although a standard Military Police jacket belongs to him, casual settings rarely see him in it. Around his neck sits a bolo tie of the sort worn by his fellow commanders.

His Pure Titan grows tall enough to lean into the Shiganshina headquarters building, and unusually for a Titan, the face and features stay close to those of the man.

Personality

Little about Roeg invites sympathy. He criticizes colleagues freely once their backs are turned, shows a streak of cowardice, and cares a great deal about public image. Historia's choice to carry a farmer's child without any formal wedding draws his open contempt, and he sneers that she counted for nothing before power found her.

Nile Dok notes that Roeg drinks heavily, an assessment the man proves over one dinner meeting by draining a bottle of wine and immediately sending a servant for the next.

History

During the tensions preceding the battle for Paradis, Roeg mocks Nile Dok's unease over jailing the Anti-Marleyan Volunteers, arguing that people whose knowledge of Zeke Yeager's real intentions is a mystery cannot be left to roam. He regrets aloud that pregnancy prevents Historia from consuming Zeke at once, and he reasons that someone among the volunteers, most likely Yelena, planted the idea so the queen could put off becoming a Titan until after the birth. It may be thinking like Nile's, he warns, that brings a nation down.

After a bomb kills Darius Zackly and three other officials, Roeg helps Nile brief the remaining leadership, a session cut short by news that Eren Yeager has broken out of his cell. At a later meeting on the Yeagerist uprising he wonders how the faction organized so quickly, faults Hange Zoë for the many Survey Corps recruits who defected, and raises the possibility of traitors in the room, falling silent only when Dot Pixis arrives and shames the group for squabbling while Kiyomi Azumabito, the ambassador from Hizuru, looks on.

Having drunk the tainted wine, Roeg feels a sudden jolt when Zeke screams from the Titan Forest. The Yeagerists lock him inside Shiganshina with the other exposed soldiers. When Marley attacks the district, Pixis has the captives freed and ordered to encircle the invaders, but mid-battle Zeke's scream converts Roeg and his fellows into Pure Titans. Drawn to the headquarters sheltering Yelena and her Yeagerist allies, his Titan rams its face through the wall and reaches for the trainee Surma, only for instructor Keith Shadis to slice open its nape and finish him.
