A dark crew cut gives Wim a military look even after he leaves the service behind. Out of uniform he dresses simply, favoring a long-sleeved shirt worn with plain trousers.

Radicalism defines Wim's outlook. Leaking army secrets to the public troubles him not at all, and walking away from the military entirely comes just as easily. His standing inside the movement appears solid; he regularly turns up at the side of Floch Forster, the faction's effective commander, lending direct support to whatever Floch is doing.

When Eren Yeager is locked up for acting against orders, Wim joins the conspirators who feed word of the arrest to the press, hoping public pressure will force the military's hand. The plot is uncovered, the leakers are jailed, and Hange Zoë promises prosecution. Sympathetic guards soon open the cells, and the freed rebels meet Eren beyond the city, where he sets their new goal: locating Zeke Yeager and joining forces with him.

A tip from Griez, a Marleyan working at a restaurant, alerts the group that Hange and other Survey Corps officers have arrived there. The Yeagerists raid the building, and when Hange refuses to reveal Zeke's whereabouts, every officer present is taken prisoner for the journey to Shiganshina District.

Once Eren unleashes the Rumbling in Shiganshina, Wim carries a wounded Floch back to the district's military headquarters, where the faction rounds up the Anti-Marleyan Volunteers. He later accompanies Floch to the Paradis harbor to watch over the Azumabito family. After Floch executes the Azumabito mechanics to pressure Kiyomi into cooperating, Wim is among those who clear away the bodies.
