Yeager family

The Yeagers descend from Eldians who stayed on the Marleyan mainland after the Great Titan War, penned like the rest of their people inside Liberio's internment zone. The family's tragedy begins when young Grisha leads his little sister Faye past the gate to watch a blimp land. Soldiers catch them; one beats Grisha while the other walks Faye away, and her body comes back with no cause of death given. The parents are lectured about teaching their son the weight of Eldia's crimes, which his father dutifully does.

Grisha follows his father into medicine, but Faye's death festers. He joins the Eldian Restorationists, marries Dina Fritz, a hidden daughter of the royal line, and fathers Zeke. When Marley starts recruiting Eldian children as candidates for the power of the Titans, Grisha pushes his son forward as a double agent for the cause. Zeke instead denounces his own parents. The Restorationists are seized, tortured, and turned loose on Paradis Island as mindless Titans, Dina among them, while Zeke is left to his grandparents and the mentorship of Tom Ksaver, the man he comes to regard as a true father. Grisha alone survives, pulled back at the last moment by Eren Kruger, the same officer whose fists he had felt fifteen years before, now revealed as the Restorationists' hidden chief; Kruger slaughters the Marleyan escort, passes Grisha the Attack Titan, and charges him with finishing the mission.

Keith Shadis finds Grisha wandering outside Wall Maria, remembering nothing but his name and his profession. He builds a practice in Shiganshina District, cures the plague that sweeps the town, and marries Carla, a local waitress; their son is Eren. In 844 the household grows again when Eren rescues the kidnapped Mikasa Ackerman, whose parents have been murdered, and the Yeagers take her in.

Titan power runs through the family line. Grisha carries the Attack Titan received from Kruger, and on the night Wall Maria falls he storms the Reiss chapel, devours Frieda Reiss, and adds the Founding Titan to his inheritance, slaughtering most of her family in the process. Hours later both powers pass to Eren: Grisha injects his grieving son with Titan serum and lets the mindless Titan that results eat him. Zeke, raised as one of Marley's chosen Warriors, holds a Titan of his own, and the royal blood carried down from Dina makes his contact with Eren the key that unlocks the Founder's full strength. When Eren tears the War Hammer Titan away from Lara Tybur in Liberio, a fourth of the Nine Titans lands in Yeager hands. Dina endures a darker fate, roaming Paradis as the Pure Titan that eventually devours Carla.

The basement of the family's Shiganshina home hides Grisha's three journals, and their recovery after the district's recapture rewrites everything the island believes: humanity thrives beyond the sea, and the Walls are a cage raised by a king. In Marley, a disguised Eren sits with his ailing grandfather, whose regret over his children's fates breaks the old man completely.

The brothers' alliance collapses inside the Paths. Zeke, committed to sterilizing every Subject of Ymir, drags Eren through Grisha's memories to prove their father brainwashed him, only to watch Eren goad Grisha into the Reiss massacre from across time. Eren then frees Ymir Fritz from two thousand years of obedience and sets the Rumbling loose on the world. Zeke dies to Levi Ackerman's blade after Armin Arlert reaches him in the Paths, his death halting the marching Walls; soon after, Mikasa severs Eren's head, and the age of Titans ends with him. Of eight known Yeagers, six are confirmed dead, and only the fates of the Liberio grandparents remain unrecorded.
