Summary

Light floods the underground chapel as Rod Reiss's transformation births a Titan so enormous the cavern cannot contain it. Stone rains down while Levi sends Armin and Moblit away with the wounded Hange. Chained to the platform, Eren begs Historia to run and let her father consume him, reasoning the Founding Titan would simply return to royal blood. She refuses outright; nobody gets to declare themselves unneeded in front of her. She frees his ankles before a blast of scorching air flings her backward into Mikasa's arms, and the arriving Squad Levi unlocks the rest of his restraints moments before falling rock obliterates the platform.

Cornered at the cavern's edge with no way out, Eren spirals into self-loathing until Jean and Conny remind him that none of them has ever survived anything alone. Levi frames it as another choice like the one he faced against the Female Titan. Eren spots a bottle marked Armor among the debris, crushes it in his teeth, and transforms; crystal pillars erupt around his Titan and brace the ceiling long enough for everyone underneath to live. The Anti-Personnel Control Squad fares worse, losing Traute Carven and others to the collapse. Rod's Titan tears through the surface and drags itself away on all fours, leaving scorched earth behind, while Jean and Mikasa carve Eren out of a Titan body that has crystallized completely and refuses to vanish. Levi recognizes the substance as hardening, guesses the Walls themselves were built the same way, and sees their means of plugging Wall Maria.

Erwin's forces track the crawling giant toward Orvud District. En route, Historia sets aside her last illusions about her father, apologizing to Eren for ever considering eating him, a wish born of wanting to believe in Rod rather than saving anyone. In Orvud, Levi relays Erwin's decree that she must take the throne to legitimize the coup. Over her squadmates' protests she accepts, on a single condition, and walks into the strategy meeting wearing full combat gear to face her father beside them. Erwin then stuns the Garrison by ordering that Orvud's civilians stay exactly where they are.
