Chapter 56 springs Hange's scripted-interrogation trick on Djel Sannes, forcing out the Reiss secret, then follows Erwin's gambit to crown Historia. A fake kidnapping is meant to lead the Scouts to Rod Reiss, but Kenny Ackerman reaches the bait first, murdering Dimo Reeves and stealing both hostages.
Dawn finds Eren scrambling out of bed to write down newly recovered fragments of his talks with Reiner, Bertolt, and Ymir before the memories dissolve, leaving Jean and Armin baffled by his rush. Below ground, the trap around Djel Sannes closes. He walks into Ralph's cell and starts throttling the man for talking, only for Hange to explain that no interrogation ever happened; Ralph simply read lines from a script, and Sannes's rage has just verified every word he let slip. He brands his captors demons, Hange answers that Minister Nick surely saw his own murderers the same way, and the broken man ends by wishing Hange luck, warning through tears that his kind is never gone for long, since the stage always finds a replacement when an actor exits. Upstairs, a fuming Hange kicks a table, then receives Eren's written record of his memories.
Levi thanks Nifa for her hard work and has her deliver Erwin's message, overriding her hesitation about speaking while Dimo and Flegel Reeves are in the room. The news lands hard: the true royal blood runs through the Reiss family, and Historia is to take the throne. She protests that ruling is beyond her, and Levi answers by yanking her up by the shirt, telling her that fleeing is an option that solves nothing, and demanding an immediate decision. From the floor, Historia accepts. He pulls her upright by the hand, saying that he is relying on her. Nifa then walks the group through the day's operation: a staged capture by the Reeves Company will put Eren and Historia in Interior Squad custody, the trail of the handoff should expose where Rod Reiss, the man who actually rules the Walls, has hidden himself, and the endgame is compelling the figurehead king to recognize Historia as queen. These, she notes, are the words Erwin passed to Dot Pixis.
The plan barely begins before it dies. Dimo stages the abduction, slipping Eren and Historia small blades that could trigger a transformation, but Kenny Ackerman of the Interior Squad arrives far sooner than projected, introducing himself to Historia as her mother's killer from five years back. Drawing Dimo aside, he asks after a captain called Levi Ackerman, mentions having been the man's teacher, and cuts the merchant's throat. Flegel, frozen behind a tree, watches his father die as Kenny's Anti-Personnel Control Squad collects the two captives and departs.
Sannes discovers that Ralph's supposed confession was staged reading, meaning his own words betrayed the Reiss secret, and his parting actor metaphor gives the chapter its title.
Eren delivers written notes covering his recovered memories of Reiner, Bertolt, and Ymir.
Erwin's plan to install Historia as queen comes out, and Levi strong-arms her into accepting.
A staged kidnapping routes Eren and Historia toward Interior Squad hands so the Scouts can trace Rod Reiss.
Kenny Ackerman kills Dimo Reeves, reveals ties to both Levi and Historia's past, and makes off with the hostages.
Volume 14's second chapter, the 56th overall in Hajime Isayama's manga, appeared in Japanese and English on the same day, April 9, 2014, within the Royal Government arc. The anime adapted its material across the episodes Pain and Old Story.
Story-wise, the chapter confirms that Kenny shares the Ackerman surname with Levi and once served as his teacher, while Hange's manipulation of Sannes marks the Scouts' turn toward exactly the ruthless methods his actor speech describes.

Naruto vs Luffy with the twist nobody asked for: Luffy tickled Hinata on date night, and she kind of liked it. We break down the whole fight and commit to a winner....

There are no women on Namek. That isn't an oversight, it's the biology. Why we handed Piccolo the one thing his own species rules out, and why it had to be trap soul....
In Actors, Hange's staged interrogation trick forces a confession about the Reiss secret out of Djel Sannes, Levi convinces Historia to accept becoming queen, and Kenny Ackerman kills Dimo Reeves while seizing Eren and Historia during a staged kidnapping.
The chapter is titled Actors because Djel Sannes realizes that Ralph's supposed confession was actually a staged reading, and he compares the whole scheme to actors on a stage, warning that a new actor always replaces the ones removed.
Levi pulls Historia up by the shirt, tells her that running away solves nothing, and demands she decide immediately; she accepts, and he tells her he is relying on her.
The staged kidnapping is meant to put Eren and Historia into Interior Squad custody so the Scouts can trace where Rod Reiss, the true ruler of the Walls, has hidden himself.
Kenny Ackerman arrives earlier than expected, kills Dimo Reeves by cutting his throat, introduces himself to Historia as her mother's killer, and takes Eren and Historia captive himself.
