Bad Boy

Levi recounts a story from his childhood in the Underground to Gabi, who has just mocked the strange way he holds a cup. After Kuchel died, the brothel's owner pawned her tea set off for sale on the surface, and the boy stowed away in the merchants' carriage to steal it back. The traders caught him, toyed with the idea of selling him too, and beat him nearly to death when he lashed out. Recognizing him as the kid Kenny watched over, they planned to feed him to pigs rather than risk Kenny's wrath.

On the edge of dying, Levi's Ackerman blood awakened. Suddenly certain of exactly how to move, he tore off one merchant's face and butchered the rest. The last survivor handed over the tea set and argued he should live so he could talk his associates out of retaliation, but Levi saw no need for that and killed him anyway. Later, abandoned by Kenny, he returned to his mother's old room and brewed himself tea, only for the cup's handle to snap before his first sip and send it shattering across the floor.

Back in the present, Gabi apologizes for teasing him and declares that she will now grip cups around the rim exactly as he does, which visibly annoys Falco.

A young Levi is caught trying to reclaim Kuchel's tea set and beaten to the brink of death by Underground merchants.

The beating triggers his Ackerman awakening, and he kills every one of his captors.

After Kenny abandons him, the handle of his mother's teacup breaks, the origin of his lifelong refusal to hold a cup by its handle.

In the present, Gabi apologizes for ridiculing his grip and vows to copy it, to Falco's irritation.

Bad Boy is the series' third special chapter, published at the start of volume 35 on May 1, 2024 in Japan and June 3, 2025 in English. Kodansha posted rough drafts of its first four pages six months before release. Readers also spotted small art inconsistencies, including a merchant group drawn as six men on one page and five everywhere else, and a face wound that partially vanishes between panels.
