theDOGS (Album)

This soundtrack album gathers the new material Hiroyuki Sawano wrote for Attack on Titan Part 2: Jiyuu no Tsubasa, the second theatrical recap of the anime. Pony Canyon published it on July 1, 2015, with a total running time of 25:23.

Within Sawano's Attack on Titan discography it falls between the soundtrack for the first compilation film, Guren no Yumiya, and the Jiyu no Tsubasa original soundtrack that arrived later the same year.

Five tracks make up the disc. The title song theDOGS opens it, with words by Benjamin and mpi and mpi on vocals. YAMANAIAME FMv follows, a vocal piece sung by Mica Caldito with lyrics from the same writing pair. The third slot belongs to TheWeightOfLives, the album's longest composition.

The final two positions hold instrumental renditions of theDOGS and of YAMANAIAME FMv, rounding out the set.

Sawano produced the album himself, with Yasushi Horiguchi of Legendoor co-producing and directing. Mitsunori Aizawa of SIGN SOUND engineered the recording and mixing for four of the five tracks, while Junichiro "Ojjy" Ojima of BUNGEE STUDIO handled TheWeightOfLives. Yuji Chinone mastered the set at Sony Music Studios Tokyo.

Sessions took place at LAB recorders, Studio Sound Valley, and Sound City, with mixing done at Studio Sound Valley and assistant engineering credited to Sora Tamiya, Sho Suzuki, and Haruki Saito.
