Adonis

Fair blond hair marks the young noble, who is only thirteen. The 1997 anime gives him brown eyes and a green tunic, while the Golden Age Arc films recolor his eyes blue and dress him in the muted grey of a nobleman.

Shy and soft-natured, Adonis endures grueling sparring under a father who is punishingly severe with him. Though drilled in the blade so that he might inherit leadership of the White Dragon Knights, the boy remains very much a novice.

Having lost his mother early, Adonis is raised by his father and a devoted attendant named Hassan. His future is fixed for him: Julius intends the boy to take command of the White Dragon Knights and even to wed his cousin Charlotte and rule the whole of Midland. When Guts steals into the manor to carry out Griffith's order to assassinate Julius, he watches the general drill his son and is reminded of his own harsh upbringing under Gambino. Hassan, for his part, quietly begs the general to ease off, noting that the child is only thirteen and still mourns his mother. After the killing is done, the boy wanders toward the room and Guts, caught off guard, runs him through the chest. Adonis clutches at his killer's hand as he dies, horrifying the swordsman. Hassan later reflects that the boy never once saw his father smile.
