Unlike the tiny elves around her, Danan's true form stands closer to human height, her skin a pale pink and her flowing hair and gown shaped from deep pink petals. Bright white antennae rise from her head, dragonfly-like wings sit at her back, and her coral eyes look out above the long, pearl-tipped cane she carries. When passing as an ordinary mage attendant she adopts a more human guise with greenish hair, round red jewels like tree fruit, and purple robes resembling Schierke's, a heart-shaped clasp at her cape and her eyes kept closed.

Danan remains unfailingly calm, untroubled by the turmoil beyond her realm or by the dire tales her guests bring. She treats her role as Elfhelm's envoy to the mage community as a duty, quietly playing the part of a humble attendant to the elderly gurus, and her modesty holds even once her true might is unveiled. Rather than punishing Puck and Magnifico harshly for their clumsy scheme to usurp her and sell elves as pets, she coolly judges it merely foolish and sentences the pair to a single day of chores. She is also a gifted pastry chef whose baking guru and guest alike find impossible to resist.

Renowned in grimoires, poems, and legend for her overwhelming power, the Flower Storm Monarch holds a singular gift: access to the Corridor of Dreams, a means of reaching into a heart's deepest recesses to mend a fractured mind. It was for this that the Skull Knight steered Guts toward Elfhelm, hinting its ruler might restore Casca, a possibility the witch Kukka later confirmed. When Guts' group finally arrived, they met the great gurus of Skellig's mages and a youthful attendant named Danan, only for her to reveal in the throne room of Elfhelm's great cherry tree that she was the monarch herself.

After dispatching Puck and Magnifico's ill-conceived plot with a day of chores, she turned to the party's true purpose and agreed to attempt Casca's healing through the Corridor of Dreams. Choosing Schierke and Farnese for the task and keeping Guts away so Casca's fear of him would not spoil the rite, she led them to a chamber of mushrooms and, taking the form of drifting cherry blossoms, guided the two women into Casca's dreamscape. Once Casca's mind was made whole, Danan left it to her alone to decide how to face her trauma, honored Farnese with her old mage robes, and sent the young sorceresses off to sharpen their craft.

She later crossed paths with the Skull Knight at the mausoleum of the Lady Priestess of the Cherry Blossoms, whom Schierke notes she strongly resembles, and observed the mysterious Moonlight Boy, sensing at once that he was no ordinary child. When Griffith's presence finally reached Skellig, Danan buckled in pain at an overflowing tide rising from the island's depths. As a swelling mass surged from its foundations and the Skull Knight opened a path to the shore, the astral beings of Elfhelm began to fade, and Danan declared it time to leave the Physical World before she too dissolved away.
