Frikka

Frikka appears as a young girl of humble village origins, modest and unassuming in her bearing.

Beneath a demure surface, Frikka proves surprisingly steadfast. After Guts rescues her she refuses to simply run, choosing instead to give herself up so that Vlad Tepes will stop killing other girls. She places great trust in Guts and holds him in high regard, seeing in him a powerful and dependable protector.

Bandits ambush Frikka before Guts steps in and carries her to a nearby village, where her astonished uncle and her parents greet her return. The villagers tell Guts of their lord, Vlad Tepes, who gathers girls as maidservants only to slaughter them horribly, and Frikka reveals she had reasoned that another girl would be taken after four had already vanished. When Guts refuses to help and departs, she confesses that it was she who described him to the villagers as a mighty knight, and she nervously asks to keep something of his, receiving his eyepatch.

A carriage soon carries her to the lord's castle, where she finds herself unable to stop moving in his presence and, repelled by his cold hands and stench, senses he is not human. Guts arrives and shoots the ruler through the eye. After weathering the creature's counterattack and slaying the apostle, he returns Frikka to her family.
