Each surcoat is a plain, tightly woven piece that resembles chain mail yet sits far lighter, made in a single continuous garment. Silver lends the cloth strong talismanic protection, so the two women slip the mail under their clothing to guard against demonic attackers, with Farnese adding her silver dagger for the same end.
