Blank

A Blank resembles a bulky white specter capped by a slim, pink pin-like head. That placid look holds only until one turns hostile, at which point the head flushes red and a pair of matching red limbs emerges to attack. In the presence of the Shinenju, a Blank can briefly slip back into the ordinary Plus shape it once wore.

Every Soul cycles between the living world and Soul Society, yet a few come unmoored inside the Dangai and never rejoin the flow. Drifting free, these lost spirits gradually gather until their mass tears open a fresh dimension, the Valley of Screams, where each Soul splits into raw energy and stored memory. The discarded memories merge and slip back to the Human World as the Shinenju. The Dark Ones eventually discovered the Blanks and worked out how to bend them toward their own ends. In Memories of Nobody, placing Senna at the valley's heart sharpens the Blanks' craving for memory, sending them surging toward her; the resulting pull crushes the valley and buckles the Dangai, dragging the two worlds into a catastrophic merge until Senna spends the memories held inside her to halt it, having made peace with spirits she recognizes as being just like herself.

One Blank poses little threat, but a swarm changes the math. Massed together they can pin a target and add crushing weight with every additional body, enough to hold down an Onmitsukido squad, and they can also clamp onto a foe and detonate, destroying themselves along with whatever they grip. When a Dark One takes hold of them, their uses widen further: they can be reshaped into swords, projectiles, or nearly any weapon their wielder pictures, and they can even patch a Dark One's missing limbs, as Jai demonstrated when he rebuilt his right arm from one.
