Dragonclad

A Dragonclad is the status Wing Bind assigns to a Human who absorbs enough Dragotoxin through long contact with a Dragon to be reclassified as one of the creatures. Balgo Parks became the first known case in BURN THE WITCH after years living beside the Dragon Shelby.

As a Dragonclad, Balgo Parks gains the ability to see Dragons that remain invisible to ordinary people, even though he still looks entirely Human otherwise. Wing Bind counts him as a member of the Dragon species rather than humankind because of this shift.

Balgo Parks became the first known Dragonclad after spending a decade sharing a home with the Dragon Shelby and being bitten while Shelby held its true shape. That prolonged contact built up enough Dragotoxin in his body for Wing Bind to reclassify him as a Dragon rather than a Human.

Once reclassified, a Dragonclad falls under Wing Bind's protection and wins the legal right to touch other Dragons, such as Osushi, even without formally joining the organization.

Being a Dragonclad is a hazard as well as a change in status, since the condition tends to draw powerful and dangerous Dragons toward the person. If the Top of Horns judges a Dragonclad a grave danger to Reverse London, Wing Bind can brand them a Punitive Dragon marked for elimination.
