Entetsu Kumoi

Entetsu cut an imposing figure: a big, bald man with olive skin and a lipless mouth that left his golden teeth on show. A wavy scar rose a short way above his left eye, and round, thick spectacles hid his gaze from view. Over his shihakushō he wore the captain's haori, its front open enough to reveal more scarring across his upper chest.

By Yhwach's account, Entetsu had a fearsome reputation as a brutal, cold-blooded killer. He lived up to it during the Lichtreich's first assault on Soul Society, cutting down the invading Quincy without mercy.

More than a millennium ago, Entetsu was named the founding captain of the 9th Division. When the Lichtreich stormed Soul Society, he met them head-on, smashing enemy soldiers apart with his Shikai, an unnamed weapon shaped like a slender iron club of dark blue studded with rings, and played his part in routing the Quincy army. As one of the original captains, reputed to be the strongest the Gotei 13 ever fielded, he carried tremendous spiritual power and the raw strength to crush a Quincy's entire body in one two-handed strike. His sealed sword's name and release remain unknown, as does any Bankai. Once the fighting gave way to peace, he settled into a quieter life, having found things he wished to protect. The captaincy of the division would in time pass to Kensei Muguruma.
