Fried

Fried takes the form of a golden serpent of middling length, her back ruled by black horizontal bands and the crown of her head marked by two inward-curving stripes. Green eyes with slit-like rectangular pupils sit above a snout ridged by four stony bumps, while her jaws hold twin rows of large fangs behind a thin pink tongue and purple gums; her belly shades to pale tan. At rest her true shape is a golden pocket watch strung on a chain and stamped with the Bount emblem. Utagawa calls her out by drawing the watch from his vest and snapping the chain wide, whereupon it lengthens into her body and tail as the watch becomes her head.

Fried shares her master's worst traits, brutal, gleeful in cruelty, and wholly without remorse, so much so that Utagawa describes the two of them as a single mind housed in one body. She generally obeys him with pleasure, yet her temper is short and a fit of rage can leave her deaf to his orders. Where Utagawa leans toward idealism about how others behave, she styles herself the realist between them, and she is perfectly willing to threaten cutting off her power the moment he looks weak or takes a wound.

For a serpent her raw strength is formidable, enough to bind the superhumanly strong Yoshino Soma hand and foot and hoist her aloft without strain, and her hide shrugs off punishment that would ruin most things, from searing heat to Ururu Tsumugiya's cannon fire to a direct cut from Ichigo's Zangetsu. She can also stretch or shrink her length at will, letting Utagawa wield her interchangeably as a lashing whip, a coiled shield, or a double-edged blade able to meet Zangetsu head-on.

Her signature gift is Snake Animation, the power to convert any lifeless object she strikes, or that Utagawa concentrates on, into gray copies of herself, often drawn from pipes, ropes, or cracks in the pavement and dripping with venom said to disfigure its victims. Escalating this, she can unleash Snake Net, planting a glowing eight-pointed sigil beneath a foe so that every step they take spawns a fresh surge of snakes, hounding them until the sheer mass overwhelms them. Fried perishes with Utagawa when Maki Ichinose cuts him down for betraying Kariya.
