Genji Isawa
CharacterIntroduced in the light novels, Genji Isawa runs the Shin'ō Academy as its headmaster. A former third seat of the Fifth Division, he lost both legs in the Quincy Blood War and took up the post on the recommendation of his old captain, Shinji Hirako.
Appearance
Broad-shouldered and heavily built, Genji cuts an imposing figure. Cropped black hair tops his head, and stubble shades his jaw. Over the black shihakushō of a Soul Reaper he wears a white haori.
History
Genji came up through the Shin'ō Academy in the same graduating year as Izuru Kira. His career later carried him to the third seat of the Fifth Division, but the Quincy Blood War cost him both legs, an injury that ended his time as an active Shinigami. Retirement did not shelve him for good: on the endorsement of Shinji Hirako, the captain he had once served under, he was appointed headmaster of the academy that had trained him.
