Ginjirō Shirogane

Warm and sociable, Ginjirō stays loyal to his old captain, Byakuya Kuchiki, whom he keeps supplying with sunglasses from his shop. He extends the same goodwill to Renji Abarai, handing his successor a discount at the store.

Ginjirō once served as lieutenant of the 6th Division, a role that eventually passed to Renji Abarai. He had begun selling eyewear on the side during his tenure, and when the trade took off he stepped down to devote himself to Gin Tonbo, the Silver Dragonfly. The Shinigami Men's Association buys all of its sunglasses there, as does Renji, though even with his discount the prices run so steep that he struggles to afford the goggles he wants.

His daughter, Mihane Shirogane, serves as the 6th Division's ninth seat and co-owns the shop. Out of respect for his former captain, Ginjirō once sent Byakuya a set of goggles; Byakuya returned them with a flat refusal, yet the undeterred ex-lieutenant keeps mailing eyewear to the division offices.

As a former lieutenant within the Gotei 13, Ginjirō carries a strong reserve of spiritual power. His Zanpakutō's Shikai has never been shown, and he possesses no known Bankai.
