Hironari Horiuchi

Horiuchi has the look of a young boy or teenager, topped with a short crop of black hair.

Gentle and patient, Horiuchi carries himself with the caring air of a protective sibling. He takes the time to walk an outsider through the customs of the afterlife and watches over his adoptive brother with quiet warmth.

By his own account, Horiuchi died in Yamanashi Prefecture during the nineteen-forties. In the Rukongai he becomes the elder brother of Yūichi Shibata within one of the district's improvised, non-blood households. When Shibata turns up before Yasutora Sado, Horiuchi arrives to fetch him home and explains that most Rukongai families form among unrelated souls. He describes how the dead are ticketed by their moment of death and scattered across separate districts, so reuniting with actual relatives is rare, then looks on kindly as Sado urges Shibata to keep searching for his mother.
