Ichika Abarai

Ichika is a small girl who took her father's vivid red hair, gathered high at the back into a spiky ponytail and tied off with a white ribbon. Her features favor her mother, above all the wide violet eyes, and she wears the plain black robes of a soul reaper.

Self-assured and headstrong, Ichika thinks nothing of slipping away from her parents, and by her mother's account she is quick to land in scraps. She introduced herself to Kazui Kurosaki by leveling her sword at him, yet she startles easily when caught off guard, as she did on learning the boy was a Shinigami too. She adores her father while loathing monsters, looks up to Captain Mayuri Kurotsuchi, and bristles at any hint that she is close with Kazui. For all her swagger she is still a child at heart, left trembling in fear when the Arrancar Szayelaporro Granz loomed over her.

Ichika was born to Renji Abarai and Rukia Kuchiki within a decade of Yhwach's downfall and later enrolled as a trainee soul reaper. Granted leave to visit the Human World with her parents during the Bon Festival, she wandered off and came face to face with Kazui Kurosaki. In a later crisis she trained under Ikkaku Madarame, secretly followed the lieutenants to a ceremony in the Human World, and was nearly killed by a Hell-transformed Szayelaporro before Renji and Ichigo shielded her. She carries a katana whose guard is shaped like a lightning bolt.
