James idolizes Mask, throwing himself into cheering the fighter on and sinking into despair whenever Mask looks close to defeat. He habitually addresses his hero as "mister," and his whole being seems bent on lifting Mask higher.

Abilities

As a Sternritter, James holds spiritual power on par with a captain-class Shinigami, and like all Quincy he draws spirit particles from the air to form his tools. His Schrift, The Superstar, meaning "Hero," lets him bring his idealized champion into being as Mask De Masculine and then strengthen him through sheer cheering, even mending his wounds. So long as Mask lives, James cannot be killed; cut to pieces, he simply sprouts small copies of himself from every severed fragment to redouble his praise. That immortality carries a fatal flaw, though: if both he and Mask fall at once, neither can revive the other. When Mask was slain, James died with him, and his soul was drawn into Yhwach.
