Ninny Spangcole

Green-eyed and blond, Ninny binds her hair into two long pigtails clasped by spiked red metal bands. She leaves a green jacket open over a white shirt and drapes a plaid cape of red and black, stamped with the Conservation Rangers' emblem, across her shoulders with a big red bow.

Shoulder straps hold up a pair of black shorts set with a golden gem at the front; a holster for her Witch Kit rides her right thigh, forcing that stocking down while the left one climbs high with three white bands near the top. Gem-studded black boots finish the look.

Loud, prickly, and quick to temper, Ninny thinks nothing of screaming at repairmen or superiors when things fail to go her way, and she reserves special venom for her commander, Billy Banx Jr. She demands the deference owed an elder, forbidding Noel from tacking a diminutive onto her name, and needles her partner for fawning over a Japanese culture Ninny herself finds absurd, openly preferring Soul Society's habit of simply exterminating its monsters to Reverse London's policy of coddling Dragons. Above all she yearns to join the Sabres, hoarding achievement points over cash because they buy promotions, and she seethes whenever recognition she feels she earned, whether a Sabre posting or a newspaper headline, lands on someone else instead.

Fame has left her thin-skinned toward pushy fans, whom she will blind with a quick spell to escape, and jaded about tabloids that twist her words. She scorns fairy tales and the girls who dream of being their princesses, reasoning she would sooner cast the spell herself than end up the fool it wears off on. Beneath the bluster, though, sits real loyalty: she shouted at Balgo Parks to flee an approaching Dark Dragon, and she repeatedly shielded her bandmate Macy Baljure, hauling her to safety and trying to spare her from the law even while griping about her endless complaints.

Ninny is a capable spellcaster who can fire off spells like Rainy Wheel and Flash Bumper without bothering to recite their incantations, and she wields lesser magic for everyday tricks such as a blinding flash to slip out of a crowd. Alongside Noel, chanting in full, she once bound the molted Märchen Cinderella with the high-order Supernal Jail. She also keeps a sharp mind, versed in obscure Dragon lore like the corpse-stealing Disguiser breed that left Noel baffled.

She is far tougher than she looks: Shelby once smashed her clean through a building yet left her with little worse than scrapes, and a broken arm barely slowed her attack. Her weapon is a yellow Witch Kit, a star-tipped implement that spits explosive rounds, and by blowing into it like a trumpet while Noel casts a coin she can raise the Coin Gate, a tunnel linking Reverse and Front London. She rides a red Broombuggy named Marshall, all lightning-shaped horns and flaming tail, of whose handsome looks she is proud.
