Nobutsuna Shigyō

Gaunt, pale, and tall, Nobutsuna had a hollow-cheeked face, the skin sunken about his gray eyes and across his chest. A pointed black mustache jutted several inches to either side of a bare center, and a long black goatee ran down the middle of his chin; his spiky hair sat mostly hidden beneath black cloth wound around his brow, jaw, and the sides of his face.

Over a captain's haori and standard uniform he draped a dark brown fur about his neck and shoulders, and black gloves ended at his darkened, pockmarked wrists.

By Yhwach's account, Nobutsuna carried a reputation as a merciless, cold-blooded killer, a name he earned by cutting down the Lichtreich's Quincy during their opening march on Soul Society.

Named to lead the newly created Seventh Division more than a millennium ago, Nobutsuna stood among the founding captains reckoned the strongest the Gotei 13 ever fielded, and his immense spiritual power let him carve through the invading Quincy with ease. Once the Lichtreich was beaten and peace returned, he settled into the calm, at last finding things he cared to protect.

His sealed Zanpakutō resembled a katana with a golden guard flanked by jutting arrowheads and an indigo grip, though its released forms were never shown. In time the Seventh's captaincy would pass down to Love Aikawa.
