Pesquisa

Pesquisa is a perception ability shared across the Arrancar ranks, its Spanish name translating to Inquiry and its kanji reading as Investigative Nerves. It gives its user a way to survey a battlefield through spiritual awareness alone, reading both the position and the raw strength of everyone nearby.

The user emits a spreading pulse that reacts to any source of spiritual pressure inside a certain radius, revealing where those individuals stand and the true scale of their power. When Grimmjow Jaegerjaquez together with his Fracción performed it, each shut his eyes and sank into a meditative calm, sharpening his senses enough to take in the surroundings.

Several Arrancar rely on it, among them multiple members of the Espada, but Ulquiorra Cifer proved the most skilled, able to measure a foe's power with a single glance and keep track of enemies he could not see. That precision once let him reason that when Zangetsu slipped past his Pesquisa undetected, the movement had to be Sonido rather than Shunpo, since he would otherwise have felt it.
