Ryūjin Jakka

Character

Race: Zanpakutō Spirit

Appearance

Rather than any humanoid figure, this spirit manifests as a towering, roaring conflagration, a wall of living flame with no fixed body.

Personality

Little of its temperament is shown, though Shunsui Kyōraku jokingly suggests it abandoned Yamamoto out of weariness at being reduced to domestic chores such as heating his food and keeping him warm.

Abilities

As the blade of the strongest Shinigami alive, the spirit holds a spiritual reserve beyond measure and effortlessly overpowers the spirits of Katen Kyōkotsu as well as Sōgyo no Kotowari. When Muramasa fools Ichigo Kurosaki into shattering Yamamoto's protective barrier with an overcharged Getsuga Tenshō, he seizes control of Ryūjin Jakka and burns those two spirits before fleeing. Its fire answers precise commands, striking only chosen targets, walling off wide areas so enemies cannot flee, and reforming almost instantly when cut. It can lash out with burning tendrils or coil them into a sphere fierce enough to crack Ichigo's Hollow mask within seconds, and only the frozen Bankai of Tōshirō Hitsugaya and Hyōrinmaru can smother it long enough for an escape.
