Seventh Division

The company is identified by the iris, a flower chosen to signify courage, and its assigned color is a dark tan. Like every branch of the Gotei 13 it keeps its own barracks housing offices and living quarters for its members. During Komamura's tenure the grounds also served as a home for his dog, Goro.

The Seventh runs on a shared code rather than any special assignment. Its ranks are filled with sincere, unpretentious people who throw themselves into life with gusto, an outlook handed down from the top. Both the former captain Sajin Komamura and his successor Iba place heavy weight on moral obligation and compassion, and the men beneath them hold honor above all else, willing to draw their blades or spend their own lives to see a duty through. The recruitment pitch leans into that image, calling for soldiers overflowing with devotion and manliness, and the Women's Association places those with a strong sense of loyalty as best suited to the squad.

Leadership of the division passed from Sajin Komamura to Tetsuzaemon Iba, who now serves as captain with Atau Rindo as his lieutenant, and no dedicated special duty has ever been recorded for it. The recruitment materials preserve the flavor of both captains, with Komamura seeking courageous men who like dogs and Iba asking for masculine recruits fluent in the Hiroshima dialect, even as the Eleventh Division's Ikkaku Madarame dismisses the Seventh and steers would be tough guys toward his own squad instead.
