Waineton

When first called forth, Waineton resembles a tiny bean-shaped sprite with a luminous green body and big round black eyes, sprouting fin-like tendrils at the sides of her head and where arms might sit, plus a branching flap that flexes as a mouth whenever she speaks. She can shed this guise at will for her true shape, a towering mantis-like horror. That form carries two pairs of eyes, an elongated black set sweeping up her head and a smaller red pair angled above it, while spikes of uneven length bristle from her skull. Her slender green frame stands on long, thin hind legs, and clawed hands of five massive talons reach the ground to prop her up on all fours.

At first Waineton seems mild-mannered and easygoing, though her concern rarely extends past her own comfort. Asked to lend her strength, she simply refuses, complaining that she is worn out and would rather sleep. Pushed to cooperate, she turns the request into a trial of her summoner's worth, and once she judges Cain unfit to command her she cackles wildly and unleashes her full power, an act that kills them both.

Waineton owes her brief existence to Cain, a Bount who longed for a Doll of his own after watching his master Gō Koga wield Dalk. Ignoring Koga's wishes, Cain carried out the summoning incantation by himself and drew her into being. His delight was short-lived, for she balked at his orders, pleading exhaustion. When he insisted, she offered to serve only if he could survive her test, then abandoned her gentle form and released a devastating burst of spiritual pressure that engulfs the area and erupts upward. The blast destroyed her and left Cain fatally wounded, and Koga's efforts to save him came too late.
